Whew. Ok. Here we go.

So let’s start where we left off: BANKAI!

First of all, I think his left hand in injured in that first panel? This will be important later. Maybe.

WOW. I’m going to try not to post entire pages, but, ummm…I kind of loved everything. Anyway Kubo outdid himself.

Askin is shocked because he knows nothing about this. Kisuke says he hasn’t used it in front of them yet. I’m assuming he means Quincies. Which is interesting on several levels.

UGH LOOK AT THOSE EMPTY EYE SOCKETS. I’M CRYING.

Askin asks for an explanation and we get this:

Askin figures out pretty quickly that Kisuke’s bankai has a limited range, so I guess that helps it from being too OP.

THIS IS A GOOD QUESTION ASKIN.

LOOK AT THAT FACE. That’s like Unohana levels of blood lust. I know @owl-in-daylight has talked about this before, but here’s some pretty canon looking stuff to back up the idea that Kisuke has some major violent urges he keeps underwraps. I mean first he screws with Askin’s arm (assuming he has complete control over his bankai…which I’ll discuss later), and now he looks like he’s relishing the chance to draw blood. It’s creepy and awesome and everything I need.

Ok, so let’s take a moment to talk about Kisuke’s bankai. It restructures anything it touches. First of all, THIS IS SO KISUKE! If a bankai is reflection of the shinigami’s soul, then this is clearly what at the heart of Kisuke. The ability to take something and make it new and different. We have proof of this from THE ENTIRE SERIES. Man, talk about hitting the nail on the head.

Second, I’m wondering if there isn’t some unpredictability to this bankai. Maybe Kisuke can’t fully control what Benihime restructures?

Third, AGAIN WITH THE SEWING. Mayuri is starting to look like a big fat copy cat, and there seems to be even more of a tie with Shutara. BUT WHAT IS IT? I’ve talked about my crack theory before, but this just makes me believe it harder.

Finally, this really adds some depth to Kisuke’s little chat with Askin about making the world over. Kisuke CAN LITERALLY DO THAT. HE COULD RESTRUCTURE EVERYTHING. HE CHOOSES NOT TO ON A DAILY BASIS. Can we please put the “Kisuke is a megalomaniac ready to remake the world” thing to rest now?

Too many caps? NEVER. Seriously, for me this totally lived up to the hype and then some. It is scary and awesome and everything I ever wanted from Kisuke.

Do I believe Askin is really dead? I mean, I don’t know. I’m 50/50 right now. Also I still want my flashbacks. But that? That is how you bankai my friends.

I’m sure I’ll think of more to say later, I’m having a hard time reigning all my thoughts in. But overall, EPIC CHAPTER WAS EPIC.

Also I totally want Yoruichi to have seen how amazing her man was.
